Biography

Imelda is a UCR graduate of 2020 who completed her undergraduate senior thesis project in Health Psychology. She currently teaches for the S.T.E.M. program and Social-Emotional Wellness Learning for Elementary Youth at an after-school program. She is personally passionate about discovering new or holistic methods of promoting and practicing mental health and wellness through research-based practices and applications. Imelda currently works as a research assistant on Dr. Emily Shum’s team that is focusing on women’s hormonal health associated with mental health. She feels incredibly grateful to be contributing to research that best correlates with her interests in the mind-gut theory and the significance of hormone health by using the BioPsychoSocial model.
